Newborn babies have this angelic, fragile and tender energy in them. I find them very adorable especially when they yawn. It has been one of my dreams to photograph infants. These days, most of my friends are having their first borns and first-borns-to-be. I think as parents, they’d love it if this beautiful stage of their baby’s life is captured – magic and innocence.
On the other hand, I feel a little bit scared on how to handle newborn babies’ photo-shoots. One day, I stumbled upon the heart-warming work of Alicia Gould. She is a Jersey-based photographer who has touch hearts because of her newborn babies’ portraits.
According to her, she sees to it that right before the shoot, she’d have a walk at the client’s place and find the best spot where there is also a great source of light (enough to illuminate the infant’s beauty without harming the skin). In addition, she makes the baby’s safety her topmost priority. She adds that preparing unsafe sets and risky poses is never her cup of tea.
Trust is the main key to last long in this field. When you take newborn babies portraits, you also deal with the parents and the family. For them to trust you to do such shoot is indeed a special thing.
Not everyone can excel in this kind of photography, others find it too challenging and boring. For Alicia, it’s always a burst of good energy and movement. She gets to exchange motherly tips and advice with the moms!
Feel the tenderness and magic of her works here.
